Net –metering is a relatively new concept in which a building owner can set up a roof-top solar plant and use the solar electricity during day time. Excess solar power , if any, can be exported to the grid. The difference of import and export is billed to the consumer by DISCOM. These system often being without battery storage are comparatively cheaper.
Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission has already pronounced the Net Metering regulation to support the above scheme. DISCOMs and OREDA have jointly finalized their processes
A dedicated web tool has been inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister, where a customer can submit his application, select a vendor , report commissioning of the project and also receive subsidy from OREDA.
So far, cumulative capacity of 3.86 MW Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Plant has been installed on 112 rooftop of various Government, Residential and Institutional building.
